Vacancies on the Deaf Victoria Board (2018)
Expressions of interest are invited to fill a number of vacancies on the Deaf Victoria Board.
Deaf Victoria advocates on behalf of Deaf and Hard of Hearing Victorians to increase access to services and to educate the wider community on how to work, play and study with Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. Deaf Victoria also represents Deaf and Hard of Hearing people in both state government and disability groups.
We are going through an exciting time of revitalisation and change in 2018, and are seeking experienced and motivated Board Members to join us.

Attributes required of the Board members
Board members will demonstrate leadership as well commitment to the highest standards of governance and personal and professional integrity. Board members must demonstrate an understanding of advocacy and/or the Deaf and hard of hearing sector in Victoria.
We are seeking in particular board members who have a strong understanding in one or more of the following fields:
- Community and social services
- Business development
- Financial management
- Communications and marketing
Applications are welcome from Deaf, hard of hearing, Deafblind and hearing people.
Please note that in accordance with the Deaf Victoria constitution we can recruit up to 2 hearing Board members (with a ratio of 8 Deaf Board members to 2 hearing Board members)
- Minimum 2 year term, to commence in November 2017
- Board retreat (in December or January)
- Attendance at a minimum of 4 Board meetings (out of a total of 6 meetings) per year.
Please outline your relevant qualifications and experience in a one-page statement, or in an Auslan video (5 minutes maximum). Your Auslan video can be uploaded to your personal YouTube or Vimeo account.
