Disney on Ice

17 February 2016

A parent has raised this issue to us this morning and the parent was very determined about getting Disney on Ice to provide interpreters for deaf children and adults.

The parent shared this concern on social media, after getting response from Disney on Ice as their response was:

‘Thanks for your interest in Disney on Ice presents Magical Ice Festival. At this time, given our limited number of performances and logistical challenges inherent to this production, we are unable to provide an interpreter service.’

The parent shared this around and has advised people to help to make a complaint against Disney on Ice.

Australian Friends – I strongly urge you to make an official complaint against Disney on Ice for refusing to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act of 1992 by providing equal access to the Deaf community for their 2016 shows. Disney is refusing to provide Auslan interpreters for any of their Disney on Ice shows. Equal access is a human right protected by Australian law.

Melissa Lowrie, the manager at Deaf Victoria, has written a letter to Disney on Ice (HYPERLINK).
